Welcome to Third Grade! I am SO excited to have you be a part of my class this year! I have actually been a teacher at Meadowlark since 1999 when our school had an Optional and Conventional calendar in place. I was first hired to teach 5th grade, then moved to 4th for about 15 years, on to 2nd, and now enjoying all things fun in 3rd!
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from UNL and taught 4th and 5th grades in Jacksonville, Florida, before returning to my home state of Nebraska. After moving to Kearney, I earned my Master's in Education right here at UNK! I have also had the opportunity to spend some time helping teachers in Haiti since 2014. Teaching is my passion and my goal each year is to model for my students how exciting and fun learning can be! In my spare time, I love to read, travel, hike, kayak, and spend time with my two grown children. My daughter lives and works in Omaha and my son works right here in Kearney.
You can reach me through email ([email protected]) anytime of the day or night (yes, I am a night owl!) or by calling the school (308-698-8210) and leaving a message. I will return your email or phone call just as soon as I am able. Communication with parents and guardians is so important to me and everyone being on the same page is what's best for students!
You may wonder where the "cactus" fits in to our school year! Well, this year our theme is centered around National Parks and Meadowlark being a National Treasure! In our room, we will explore Zion National Park and all the unique beauty it offers! Just like each of my students brings unique and wonderful attributes to our class of third graders! Let's begin the adventure together!
