Mrs. Heese - Speech Language Pathologist
Hello!
I am currently a Speech Language Pathologist with Kearney Public Schools serving students at Meadowlark and Glenwood Elementary schools. I have been with KPS since 2016 and was with the Educational Service Unit 9 for 11 years prior. I am an American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified SLP and earned my bachelor's and master's degree's from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
While in the school setting I can be found working with students in groups, individually, or in the classroom while co-teaching with the general education teacher. Speech and language skills are essential to academic learning. Support in speech and language may include the areas of articulation of sounds, vocabulary, social skills, non-verbal communication (sign language and speech generating devices), grammar, vocal quality and volume, stuttering, comprehension (verbal and oral), memory, sound blending, sequencing, categorizing, inferencing, and social thinking to name a few. Impairments in one or multiple areas impact how well students are learning in the general education setting. it is vital to support them by giving them the tools they need to continue to learn. Seeing the lightbulb come on when a student has made a new connection or learned something new is priceless.
Please feel free to get in touch with me anytime.
