Welcome to Mrs. Bennett's Meadowlark First Grade
Hello First Grade Friends and Families! I am Mrs. Robin Bennett and I am SO excited that you stopped by our first grade page! I have been with Kearney Public Schools since 1985! Time sure flies when you are having fun! I started my teaching career at Kenwood and have been at Meadowlark Elementary since it opened. Teaching kindergarten, third grade, and first grade have filled my years and my heart! I attended UNL and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and also a Masters Degree in Elementary Guidance and Counseling from UNK! I am also a Gibbon High School 1980 graduate!
Teaching sure does make me SMILE! The students who enter our first grade room know how to steal a piece of my heart! We learn so much together about reading, math, science, social studies, writing, and the world around us in first grade! We also learn how to "Be the best that we can be!" and how to spread kindness and "Be the light for others!" We will become a first grade family, and learn how to "Not crinkle hearts!"
I have been blessed with an amazing family! My husband, Scott, who was a big light for me for our 35 years of marriage, recently passed away. I was SO lucky to have had him in my life for so many adventures! We were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Chantelle and Rhiannon. Chantelle, and her husband, Adam, live nearby and they have my sweet granddaughter, Collyn, and my grandson, Bennett! Chantelle is an event planner for the Younes Center. Rhiannon works for Gallop and lives in Omaha. She just got married to Will Phillips this summer! My dog, Murphy, rules the roost at the Bennett house, but I sure do love him!
In my spare time you can find me taking "Grammy walks," going to garage sales, doing decorating or organizing projects, or finding ways to be creative!
I have learned some very valuable lessons this last year including: "Always remember to have a grateful heart, to remember that each day is a gift, and to remember to let your light shine, and to be the light for others!"
